Celtic’s evolvement and development under Brendan Rodgers looks set to continue this week as the Celtic manager is set to add another member to his backroom team.
After the addition of Glen Driscoll earlier this month, Rodgers is said to be looking to persuade analyst, Jack Lyons to return to the club for a second spell. [The Sun]
Lyons worked for Celtic under Rodgers in his first stint as Celtic manager as an opposition scout after the manager showed an interest in his online Hoops blog and invited him to Lennoxtown. After winning over Rodgers, he received a job offer from Celtic.
He then accompanied Rodgers to Leicester in 2019 and was replaced at Celtic by Peter Houston. It’s interesting to note that Lyons is credited with playing a significant role in James Maddison’s development as a Foxes midfielder.
Rodgers has retained all the previous backroom staff that worked so well at Celtic under Ange Postecoglou. John Kennedy, Gavin Strachan and Harry Kewell all remained as Dermot Desmond and the Celtic board tried to water down the damage of losing former manager, Ange Postecoglou to Spurs.
The move means the Celtic manager is beginning to put his own stamp on the Hoops backroom team. The appointments of Driscoll and Lyons is a clear indication that the Celtic manager is keen to keep familiar faces around him as he looks to continue Celtic’s success next season.
Om top of that, Rodgers has also been busy in the transfer market this week after tieing up deals for Maik Nawrocki, Hyunjun Yang and Hyeokkyu Kwon. It’s all go at the club and the fans will be hoping to see more new faces added to the first-team squad before the summer window closes.
