Adam Idah scored a much-needed goal to help Celtic book their Scottish Cup final ticket on Sunday.
A fortnight after losing in Perth, Celtic thrashed St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup semi-final by putting five goals past Simo Valakari’s men at Hampden.
Last week, Celtic thrashed Kilmarnock in the Premiership and edged closer to the title, but despite netting five in that match, Idah didn’t get on the scoresheet before he was hooked off after the hour mark.

But then, a video started circulating on social media of Idah, on a night out, over the weekend, and suggestions that he was sick inside a taxi.
It’s just a normal night out for a young lad of his age, but of course, it had to make headlines, and Brendan Rodgers had to discuss it before Celtic’s win over St Johnstone.

Why Adam Idah really started Celtic’s win over St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup semi-final
Surprise, surprise. There was more noise than truth to the Idah stories surfacing around social media in the build-up to the Scottish Cup semi-final.
Rodgers debunked the claims that the Republic of Ireland international was ‘sick in a taxi’ by telling BBC Radio Scotland that it wasn’t the case.
The Celtic manager stated ‘people add salt and pepper to these things’, and how he was ‘ready to start’ the St Johnstone match and ‘perform’, which he did.
“There are always stories out there, but naturally you assess it, take it on board and you take it from there,” said Rodgers.
“Adam, with his time with me, he has been a fantastic professional. I read the stories about being sick in the taxi, he wasn’t actually sick in the taxi.
“But, naturally, people add salt and pepper to all these things, then it’s a lot bigger deal than it actually was.
“He has trained well this week. I have got no issues with anything like that. I have had issues before with players taking out teams, and stuff like, but this was never the case. He is ready to start and perform.”
Idah’s stats for Celtic this season
Idah might not have the volume of goals of the free-scoring Daizen Maeda or hit the numbers Kyogo Furuhashi did in his prime.
Added to that, the transfer fee on top of Idah’s head doesn’t help matters, but at the end of the day, it isn’t his fault, and he didn’t ask for it.
Nonetheless, with that strike in the semi-final, that’s 15 goals in all competitions for Idah, and you are hoping a few more big goals are around the corner because he has a history of it.
