The signing of Jahmai Simpson-Pusey will be completed soon by Celtic.

The Man City defender had been linked with a move to Parkhead over the last few days but it seems Simpson-Pusey will join Celtic this week.

At just 19, Simpson-Pusey has featured six times for the Premier League side’s senior squad and it appears that Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of the Celtic-bound defender.

However, Peter Grant believes that there could be a player at Celtic who will be left ‘disappointed’ by the move should it go through this summer.

Peter Grant ‘surprised’ at Celtic signing Jahmai Simpson-Pusey

Many Celtic supporters were expecting the club to sign experienced players for the attacking areas this summer.

And that is why Simpson-Pusey’s signing has left Grant feeling ‘surprised’.

Grant told The Go Radio Football Show, “Yeah, I thought he’s done really well [Dane Murray] throughout pre-season. And I’m looking at his age, he’ll be disappointed when you’re seeing a 19-year-old coming up.

“After the way he’s played in the matches, because I thought he’s done exceptionally well throughout pre-season.

“That’s why I was quite surprised when I saw it. You know, because he’s never let Celtic down.”

Dane Murray will be ‘disappointed’ at Celtic signing Simpson-Pusey

Young Dane Murray has impressed Celtic fans this summer with his pre-season performances, in particular against Sporting CP.

Many may have thought he would have got his chance under Brendan Rodgers this season but it appears that Simpson-Pusey’s signing could scupper that to leave him gutted according to Celtic hero, Grant.

“He’s played against good players. He’s been asked different questions with different types of strikers he’s played against.

“So I’m quite surprised that they maybe not go with him if it’s someone at that age.

“It’s not as if he’s 16 years of age and you think, well, I’m going to go into Europe with him.

“And that’s the only thing that’s thrown me a little bit about this one, because I think young Murray’s done exceptionally well throughout pre-season. And if I was him, and I was seeing a 19-year-old coming up, I’d be disappointed.”

Hopefully, the arrival of the Man City defender will spur Murray on and not demotivate him as he clearly showed this summer has something to offer Celtic.

Whether Rodgers feels the same? Only time will tell.
