Celtic’s signing of Kelechi Iheanacho has drawn a mixed reaction from the Hoops support.

The Nigerian striker was brought in after a disastrous transfer deadline day saw Kasper Dolberg reject Celtic and Sebastian Tounekti become the only addition to the Bhoys’ first-team squad.

However, Celtic did manage to sign Kelechi Iheanacho after deadline day and the Hoops gaffer appeared pleased to have at least added a striker to his ranks.

But it seems that there is one thing Iheanacho will not accept at Celtic and it will, at least, please the vast majority of the Parkhead support.

Frank McAvennie says Kelechi Iheanacho will not put up with something that really annoys Celtic fans

Celtic fans have noticed that the urgency and attacking intent appears to have left Brendan Rodgers’ side this season.

And Frank McAvennie has said that is something the Nigerian striker ‘will not put up with’ at Celtic.

McAvennie told the Let Me Be Frank podcast, “I’ll tell you what the boy, Iheanacho, he will not put up with this passing sideways and backwards.

“If he’s making runs, especially when you’re getting yourself fit, trust me, as a striker, if you’re coming back for fitness, if you’re getting fit and you’re making all these runs, it’s great when you get the ball or somebody tries to give you it, right?

“But see if they don’t see you, you get tired very easily and you get fed up with it.

“He’s a damn good player. You know, and if he can get 70% of that which was at Leicester, then I think Celtic’s got a steal.”

What Kelechi Iheanacho has said about signing for Celtic

The Nigerian striker was out of favour at Sevilla and hardly kicked a ball for the La Liga club.

So moving to the Scottish champions would surely have Iheanacho buzzing, right?

He is, and Iheanacho told Celtic FC, “I’m excited to be a Celtic player and I’m feeling really good about it. Celtic is a massive club and I’ve been following them for a long time.

“I’m happy to be a part of that now and hopefully it’ll be a great season.

“I’m looking forward to fighting for silverware with Celtic. In England, I won trophies so hopefully I can be a winner with Celtic as well.

“I can’t wait to be a part of all of it and I’m very confident that I can bring a lot to the team.”
