Celtic board and Ross Desmond face intense media criticism over club’s current leadership direction

If it wasn’t for Martin O’Neill, then Celtic would be in a far worse situation than they are now.

Back in November, Celtic’s AGM was abandoned after the supporters took issue with Ross Desmond verbally attacking the paying fans.

Whichever side you are on, it was still a dark day for Celtic, as even Simon Jordan is realising how incompetent those running the club from the Parkhead boardroom are.

“The Celtic board didn’t help themselves,” said Jordan. “They haven’t helped themselves in some of their communications.

“It was a ridiculous shareholder meeting that they shouldn’t have had. The son of Dermot Desmond was wagging his finger and lecturing people.”

Should the Celtic board take responsibility for the SPFL losing a Champions League spot?

Simon Jordan is right to call out the Celtic board and Ross Desmond

Jordan once owned Crystal Palace, so he understands the trials and tribulations of football clubs, dealing with issues, especially with supporters.

That’s why he can’t help but take the side of owners or those in the boardroom most of the time, and aim verbal shots at fans.

The talkSPORT pundit has done that on numerous occasions when talking about Celtic’s current mess, but even he is now calling out the leadership at the top of the house.

Yes, Jordan still can’t help but state that Celtic fans are ‘pushing the envelope a little too far’ with their protests, but even he understands that the board aren’t just fit and proper.

Hopefully, more media platforms like talkSPORT will put the Celtic board under intense scrutiny, because it’s needed if there is to be serious change from top to bottom.

Jim White: “You would think Celtic delivering the title would placate many of those supporters, but seemingly not.”

Simon Jordan: “It will pacify them for the moment, they won the league. But it won’t dampen their ardour for their dislike (of the Celtic board). It’s seeded in them now, and they have been given oxygen.

“So, they have gotten braver and stronger in their opinions. Now they are going beyond the pale of saying certain things and pushing the envelope a little too far.

“But that was up to the Celtic board, and they didn’t help themselves. They haven’t helped themselves in some of their communications.

“It was a ridiculous shareholder meeting that they shouldn’t have had. The son of Dermot Desmond was wagging his finger and lecturing people. I understand his reason to want to do it.

“But when you are in a position of authority, influence and control. What you want to do, and what you should do, are two different things.”
