Life is proving to be tough for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, as the Celtic hero continues to come under fire.

Despite Spurs reaching the Europa League semi-final on Thursday night, they proceeded to lose 2-1 to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Monday evening, and are now sitting 16th in the table.

That’s 18 league defeats for the man who dominated in Celtic colours and delivered a Treble for Scotland’s most successful club.

As a result, the noise around Postecoglou’s future continues to grow, amid suggestions that he could be booted out the door by the end of the season.

The man who replaced Postecoglou at Celtic Park knows all about the Premier League stage, as Brendan Rodgers managed the likes of Swansea City, Liverpool and Leicester City during his days in England’s top-flight.

But could a return to England be on the cards?

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers backed to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Rodgers has gone down this road before, and it’s fair to say he won’t do it again, or else, he won’t be allowed back in Glasgow.

Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist discussed the idea of Rodgers replacing Postecoglou at Tottenham, if he is booted out by Daniel Levy.

Speaking live on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning, even Celtic-daft Brazil backed the idea of Rodgers moving to Spurs, including how he has ‘pedigree’ from his days at Liverpool.

“But I tell you who might suit them, what about Brendan at Tottenham?” asked McCoist.

Brazil responded: “There you go, there is another one. A good shout. If he thinks the Treble, and that’s it. I have done the Treble. We have progressed in Europe, and now time to move on. Maybe.”

McCoist then claimed: “Not sure you have progressed in Europe,” to which Brazil added: “Oh, I think we have. In the big one, yeah. In the big one.”

Brazil then continued: “So, I think you could be right. Brendan could move there. He nearly won it with Liverpool, didn’t he? So, if you are looking at pedigree.

“But then, would Spurs say ‘we took a Celtic manager, and it didn’t work’.” McCoist added: “It depends, he has previous, hasn’t he? He has done exceptionally well down here.”

Rodgers and Postecoglou’s records in the Premier League

Of course, Ange has managed just the one club in England, but this is his second season in charge, so you are getting a fair reflection of what he is about.

The 59-year-old had that incredible start when Spurs were sitting top of the Premier League table, after ten matches, but since then, a lot of it has gone downhill, as he is delivering 1.45 points per match.

For Rodgers, he has managed over 300 games in England’s top-flight, including helping Swansea earn promotion and maintain their status, before that road led him to Liverpool.

Before Jurgen Klopp’s success, Rodgers had come closer to anyone in ending Liverpool’s 30-year wait to become champions of England.
