Jamie O’Hara left stunned by Jason Cundy’s claim about Celtic hero Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

What a rollercoaster ride Celtic hero Ange Postecoglou is on at Tottenham Hotspur.

Celtic fans know that feeling because, when Postecoglou first joined the Glasgow giants in 2021, Steven Gerrard’s Rangers had just won the Premiership title and everything was a mess inside Celtic Park.

But the unknown figure of Postecoglou turned all of that around in his first season, and then went on to secure the Treble, before moving to the Premier League and Tottenham Hotspur during the summer of 2023.

It’s what made the 59-year-old so popular with the Celtic Park faithful, but it’s fair to say that feeling hasn’t been felt during his time in the Tottenham dugout.

Everyone felt that Postecoglou was heading for the exit door, and Spurs’ Europa League quarter-final clash against Frankfurt on Thursday night was going to be the end and the final nail in the coffin.

But, in typical Postecoglou style, he has stood up, booked Tottenham’s ticket to the semi-final and is still fighting for the London club’s much-needed trophy.

If Postecoglou wins a trophy, then he will be a hero forever, but not according to all.

Jason Cundy’s suggestion about Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham slammed by Jamie O’Hara

Jamie O’Hara is a loudmouth when it comes to anything Tottenham, especially Postecoglou, because he can go from one extreme to the other in the flick of a switch.

But when Jason Cundy suggested that Postecoglou shouldn’t keep his job, even if Spurs win the Europa League, it left O’Hara baffled, as he told talkSPORT.

Cundy highlighted Tottenham’s Premier League form, and how they are sitting in the bottom half, as a reason behind that absurd claim.

“He said, ‘second season’, he might actually have the last laugh,” said Cundy. “Here is a question for you. Does he keep his job if he wins it?”

O’Hara responded in a blunt fashion: “Yes.”

Cundy added: “I don’t think he does.” Before O’Hara continued: “He does. He does. If he wins it, then he keeps his job.”

Cundy then claimed, “I don’t know how that is enough. Your league form is the bread and butter.”

A baffled O’Hara then added: “What do you mean? It would be one of the biggest things Spurs have ever done.”

Cundy then added: “Right, fine. But that’s not enough to keep your job because the league form is terrible. Look where you are.”

O’Hara then reminded his fellow pundit: “I said this, and I said it in a joking way. I said I would take 17th and a Europa League, and it actually might happen.”

Celtic hero Postecoglou would become Tottenham’s greatest modern-day manager

Let’s put this right, Postecoglou isn’t managing a club that is used to winning trophy after trophy – their last triumph was in 2008.

They last won the Europa League – UEFA Cup in old money – back in the 80s – and haven’t been champions of England since 1960.

Yet somehow, winning the Europa League warrants Postecoglou to get sacked, which is overreaction and complete nonsense of the highest order.
