Celtic-daft striker who loves Hoops and Ange Postecoglou named in prestigious top 15 Next Gen stars for future

Celtic have had their fair share of youngsters who have been tipped for the top over the years.

Ben Doak was backed to become a world beater by a coach back before he’d burst onto the scene while Karamoko Dembele was famously lauded as a kid.

Kieran Tierney also came into his own as a teen before KT left Celtic for Arsenal in a £25million switch, justifying the optimism towards his future. The Next Gen list of young superstars is always a strong gauge of where these teens can go and the players expected to hit the heights.

And while there’s no Celtic representation necessarily from a club perspective this time, there is a Hoops fan among the top 15 of expected greats.

Celtic-daft Archie Gray is on prestigious list

Striker Archie Gray is a Celtic fan and recently told of his love for the club as well as manager Ange Postecoglou who he says was a major reason he joined Tottenham when he was offered the chance.

He said at the time: “I’m a massive Celtic fan, so I love (Ange). My whole family loves him.” It was a heart-warming moment for the kid who signed for Spurs from Leeds United in a £40m deal.

So it was nice to see Gray listed among GOAL’s top talents at number 13. The article describes him as: “The fourth member of his family to play in the English top flight, Archie Gray is following in the family business – and making it look easy, too.

“After being named Championship Young Player of the Year last season having been an ever-present in his debut campaign at boyhood club Leeds United, the 19-year-old has made the transition to the Premier League look easy following his £30m ($40m) transfer to Tottenham.

“Gray’s maturity is what marks him out among his peers, while his versatility is also mightily impressive, with the midfielder having been forced to fill in at right-back and centre-back for much of his early career while barely missing a beat.

“Just imagine how good he will be when he finally gets to play his favoured role on a regular basis…”

Why Gray ‘loves’ Ange Postecoglou and Celtic

Gray could be a star for Spurs down the line and who knows, maybe Celtic will take a chance on him for a loan swoop in future.

At least we suspect the teenager would be open to a move to Parkhead if the opportunity presented itself.

Another player with Celtic links – albeit perhaps tenuous ones this time – was rated number ONE on the NXGN list.

Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal is the clear leader for youngsters in world football right now. And Yamal’s Celtic Football Club roots were shown when his Dad donned a full Hoops outfit last year.
