Celtic have sadly dropped three places in Opta’s power rankings to determine the best team from the 2025/26 season.
The Hoops are second in the Scottish Premiership after a difficult start to the season but crashed out of the Champions League in the qualifiers to Kairat Almaty.
Throughout the season, Opta have been using the data to determine who the best team in the world is.
Brendan Rodgers’ side know that they wouldn’t be at the top, but they will be disappointed to see themselves drop down the table.
Celtic ranked as the 78th best team in the world
According to Opta, Celtic are the 78th best team in the world.
This table is updated once a week, every Friday, meaning that the Hoops can move at any point.
Even though Celtic beat Motherwell in the final game before the international break, it wasn’t enough to prevent a slide from 75th to 78th.

Currently leading the way at the top of the charts is Arsenal, who are closely followed by the Champions League holders, Paris Saint-Germain.
Europa League rivals Red Star Belgrade are also above Celtic, and are eight places higher in 70th.
Celtic ranked inside the top 100 but Rangers are nowhere to be seen
Ranking inside the top 100 is still some form of achievement, especially when you compare it to how Rangers are performing in the table.
As it stands, the data site has Rangers placed in 202nd position, absolutely miles off.

That can be something the Hoops can look back on with a smug look, especially after Steven Gerrard turned down a return to Rangers.
