67 Hail Hail ‘raises questions’ about Peter Lawwell’s leadership after shambolic Celtic AGM on BBC Sportsound

The Celtic AGM is completely dominating the headlines this week despite the Hoops dramatic last-gasp win at St Mirren on Saturday night.

Celtic beat St Mirren in dramatic fashion after Callum McGregor’s last-minute goal sealed a crucial win that keeps the pressure on Hearts at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

However, there is pressure being felt elsewhere at Celtic after the AGM cast a light on the Parkhead board like never before.

Ross Desmond’s attack on Celtic supporters was a disgrace as 67 Hail Hail called out Dermot Desmond’s son’s conduct at the meeting.

And next on the list is Celtic chairman Peter Lawwell who not only lost control of the room, but also of Desmond Jr as the chairman allowed a person who is not a director at Celtic to launch his vicous attack on the Hoops support.

67 Hail Hail’s blistering AGM criticism of Celtic chairman Peter Lawwell

Lawwell has been criticised by Celtic supporters for his conduct at the meeting and after being invited onto BBC Sportsound, 67 Hail Hail shined the spotlight on the Parkhead chairman.

We told Tom English on BBC Sportsound, “I understand what you mean [about Celtic fans booing], but you’ve got to remember the frustration that’s been felt by Celtic fans who have been waiting for this meeting, ever since the whole shambles of the transfer window.

“I mean, obviously the transfer window, it’s not the main reason why this has happened, it’s one of the catalysts.

“But what I also found amazing was how Lawwell addressed the fans at that meeting as well, telling them to behave, but then allowed a member of the executive team to go on this incredible rant towards the fans, labelling them bullies and shameful.”

Celtic chairman Peter Lawwell should have stopped Ross Desmond’s fan attack

As well as criticisng Lawwell for speaking to Celtic fans like children, 67 Hail Hail said that the chairman should have stepped in and stopped Ross Desmond’s attack on Celtic supporters.

“Why would Peter Lawwell not take Ross Desmond aside and say, look, maybe you should stop this rather than letting it to continue and allow the reaction from the crowd to kind of build to the point where the meeting had to be adjourned.

“And to me it looked as if Peter Lawwell was reading from a script as well when he cancelled that meeting.

“So that for me that raises questions as well. But it was a complete shambles of a meeting. The Celtic fans are absolutely fuming.

“You’ve probably seen the Celtic Fans Collective statement tonight, I covered it on 67 Hail Hail where they called out the Celtic board’s conduct at that meeting. It was a complete disgrace.”

The chairman should’ve shown more leadership and stopped Desmond’s bizarre rant, instead of bringing the meeting to close.

By doing that Lawwell could have helped ease the tensions and, dare we say it, helped bridge the gap between the Celtic fans and the board ever so slightly.
