Celtic fans are nervously waiting on UEFA’s decision-making process being completed.

The Hoops face the wrath of the governing body in the aftermath of their Champions League clash vs Aston Villa back in January.

Celts were issued a warning ahead of that one following a previous €20,000 fine when they were also given a suspended one-game away fan ban after pyrotechnics were used away at Borussia Dortmund.

Unfortunately for the club, pyro was again used away at Villa Park in a small section of the support and was then chucked onto the pitch in a disappointing incident.

Celtic face a stadium ban for fans after pyro issues

That meant the club warned fans that they could not guarantee a ticket allocation for their following away tie in the knockout playoff which was always set to be a glamour tie.

Bayern Munich are the side who wait to face the Scottish Premiership champions and league leaders but some punishments dished out by UEFA to other clubs this week will have Celtic anxiously worrying even further about what might be to come.

According to UEFA’s disciplinary decisions, AS Roma have been hit hard after a previous punishment and have this time been slapped with a further €30,000.

The Italian giants have also been ordered to play their next home match with a partial closure of Stadio Olimpico for the lighting and throwing of fireworks.

Crowd disturbances have also been cited.

AS Roma and other clubs act as cautionary tales for Celtic

As well as Roma, FC Twente have suffered a similar fate with the board deciding: “To fine FC Twente €30,000 and to order the partial closure of FC Twente’s stadium (i.e. sectors 102-106 behind the goal where the home supporters are located) during the next match FC Twente plays as host club, for lighting of fireworks and throwing of objects.

“To fine FC Twente €5,000 for its failure to comply with the UEFA Safety and Security Regulations (i.e. the checking and guarding of the stadium).”

It will come as no shock to Celtic fans but does not bode well for the club who will be hit in the pockets over the ticket issue.
