Scotland and England confirmed their champions over the weekend, as Celtic and Liverpool stepped forward to claim their deserved crowns.
On Saturday, Celtic took apart Dundee United by netting five goals at Tannadice to finally secure their Premiership crown for the 2024/25 season, after weeks of waiting.
That’s another title for Scotland’s most successful club, four in a row, including a mammoth 14 in 15 seasons for the Hoops.

Over on Merseyside, Liverpool thrashed Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham 5-1 on Sunday to seal their first title crown under Arne Slot, and just like Celtic, they also put five goals past their opponents.
There were some similarities to it all, including a Celtic hero playing his part.

Celtic hero Virgil van Dijk wins another Premier League title
Virgil van Dijk joined Celtic from Dutch side Groningen in 2013, and it quickly became apparent that he wouldn’t last long in Scotland’s top tier, as he was destined for the best team in the so-called best league in the world.
It didn’t happen straight away, but after two years in the green and white colours and a stint at Southampton, the 33-year-old ended Liverpool’s 30-year wait for a title in 2020, and then added a second title to his name on Sunday.
For the Reds, this was title number 20, level with Manchester United, who are in a world of bother and set for a bottom-half finish in England’s top-flight.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 12 | 34 | 11 | 12 | 11 | 43 | 47 | -4 | 45 | |
| 13 | 34 | 12 | 5 | 17 | 51 | 61 | -10 | 41 | |

| 16 | 34 | 11 | 4 | 19 | 62 | 56 | 6 | 37 |
Meanwhile, over in Glasgow, Celtic secured title number 55, going on level with Rangers.
Just like Manchester United, those over at Ibrox are also in a world of bother, and there is no sign that they will ever touch Celtic again.
You expect, in these coming years, for Celtic and Liverpool to add to their titles, and firmly cement themselves as the biggest and most successful clubs in their country.
Van Dijk’s record at Celtic and Liverpool
The only downside to van Dijk’s stay at Celtic Park is that it didn’t last long, but boy, were those seasons in Glasgow joyous.
He strutted around the pitch like he owned the place, including three trophies in Scotland and playing a part in Celtic’s near two-decade dominance.

That’s eight trophies to his name since he left the Bhoys, and every Celtic fan is wishing him the best and hoping his success continues.
