Craig Bellamy’s name has been doing the rounds on the managerial circuit in recent times, including with Celtic and Burnley.

On Monday, Burnley parted ways with Scott Parker, and they were instantly linked with their former assistant Bellamy, but it seems as though that possible summer move won’t be happening.

TalkSPORT have claimed that Bellamy, who spent a brief period at Celtic as a player in 2005, will ‘snub’ a move to Turf Moor, which leaves that Parkhead door open.

Now, Martin O’Neill and Celtic are concentrating on trying to win the domestic double, but that hasn’t stopped the noise around who the club’s next manager will be, as more interesting details emerge around Bellamy.

He has seriously impressed in charge of Wales…

Craig Bellamy has a ‘£700k’ release clause in his Wales contract

If Dermot Desmond wants to bring in Bellamy, then he will have to get the former striker out of his current Wales contract.

TalkSPORT has also reported that Bellamy’s current Wales contract contains a ‘£700,000’ release clause.

In the modern game, where prying a manager away usually costs several million pounds, that represents a surprisingly affordable buyout.

What adds an intriguing twist to the report is Bellamy’s hesitation to leave his current post.

He is reportedly ‘reluctant’ to quit Wales for Burnley because he remains entirely ‘committed to leading’ his home nation into a Euro 2028 tournament hosted on home soil.

You just wonder if the same applies if Celtic were to come knocking, with sections of the fanbase expressing that they wouldn’t prefer the Hoops to appoint Bellamy as the next manager because he is still pretty raw in management.
