Celtic called a ‘lower league’ club by Bayer Leverkusen chief

Celtic were delighted to earn money from Jeremie Frimpong’s Liverpool move after the right-back was formally announced by the Premier League club on Friday.

Frimpong’s rise from a young teenager getting a taste of senior football to being sold for £35m is a great story.

He’s improved no end since going to Bayer Leverkusen and has replicated a model Celtic have mastered of buying cheaply and selling for profit.

But, when talking about Frimpong, Bayer Leverkusen’s managing director Simon Rolfes insinuated that Celtic are a small club.

He said: “Jeremie is a perfect example of the path Bayer 04 Leverkusen has successfully followed many times: bringing a young, highly talented player from a lower league, developing him into a key player to achieve our goals”

Chris Sutton thinks Celtic will do better because of Rangers takeover

Rangers’ takeover has finally been completed and now the cycle of hearing that they are back, the years of dominance are over and the Hoops will be overtaken again have all started back up.

It’s true, Celtic have been dominant in recent years but have had no real competition. With signs of cracks beginning to emerge in the latter stages of the season, Chris Sutton thinks this new lease of life at Ibrox can only be a good thing for his former club.

He said: “Rangers finally getting their act together might be the best thing that can happen to them.

“Celtic simply cannot afford to sit on their hands because their rivals won’t be worse next season than they were this time around – they can’t be.”

Marco Tilio wins A-League Grand Final in final Melbourne City appearance

Finally, after what feels like an eternity, Marco Tilio will be back in Celtic colours as of next season.

Tilio made his final appearances of a two-year loan spell for Melbourne City against rivals Melbourne Victory in the A-League Grand Final.

Although he didn’t score, it was a happy ending for Tilio as City beat the Victory to win Australia’s top prize in football.

Former Bhoys midfielder Daniel Arzani also featured, but was on the losing side.
