Celtic sent Adam Idah message after claims Yang ‘isn’t the answer’ to Brendan Rodgers’ problems

Celtic returned to winning ways at the weekend after putting five goals past helpless Kilmarnock.

It’s a strange thing to say ‘return to winning ways’, because in recent times, Celtic have shot themselves in the foot by simply not performing and suffering far too many defeats.

That was proven when the Hoops were beaten at St Johnstone last week, a side sitting bottom of the Premiership table and expected to suffer relegation this term.

That’s why the Premiership title hasn’t been wrapped up yet, as the Celtic Park faithful will now have to wait until after the split to start the title party.

For Celtic’s win over Kilmarnock, several changes were made to the XI, including the return of Adam Idah after he lost his place in the side.

It has been an interesting season for Idah, following his big-money transfer move from Norwich City, as his performances have divided opinion.

Idah was outstanding during his loan spell in Glasgow, but he simply hasn’t been able to hit those consistent heights.

Adam Idah backed to play a part at Celtic amid Hyunjun Yang concerns

Even though Celtic had five goals to their name against Killie, including a thunderbolt from Cameron Carter-Vickers, the man up top didn’t find the back of the net.

But Peter Grant, when looking back on the whole of the season, has faith in the man from Ireland and explained the difficulties Rodgers finds in putting out his starting front three.

From where Daizen Maeda and Jota play, to how Hyunjun Yang, isn’t the answer to the wide right attacking position, as he told Go Radio.

“I still think Adam Idah has a big part to play,” said Grant. “I genuinely do.

“I don’t think Maeda and Jota are as good on the right-hand side. Brendan Rodgers has made big decisions with him (Kuhn). In the Rangers game, and last week, taking him off at half-time, so he obviously isn’t happy with his performance.

“But I don’t think Yang will be the answer, at this moment in time, to do that consistently. I think, if Maeda or Jota, were better than that (on the right), then I think Adam Idah would be playing through the middle.

“Maeda has done fantastically. But it’s the most difficult position to find, the striker, especially during the January window.”

Idah’s stats for Celtic this season

At first, it was Kyogo Furuhashi leading the line for Celtic, then he left in the winter, and it opened the door for Idah to start.

Everyone remembers Idah’s brace at Villa Park, he was supposed to use that as a springboard to become the main guy.

But instead, he has watched Maeda score goal after goal.
