Celtic told Ange Postecoglou is ‘missing’ Parkhead role amid different atmosphere at Tottenham

Celtic fans will be hurting watching Ange Postecoglou’s struggles at Tottenham Hotspur.

One thing is for sure: Postecoglou is a unique figure, and ever since he stepped foot into the Premier League, he has been a talking point and divided opinions like no other.

As of this moment, everything, in the Premier League that is, has fallen flat on its face for the Celtic hero, and a lot rests on Tottenham’s Europa League campaign.

Spurs are sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table, and more than likely, they will stay there when the final ball of the campaign is kicked in May.

But will big Ange still be in a job? Well, it seems as though a lot rests on what happens in the Europa League, with a two-legged quarter-final affair against Eintracht Frankfurt coming up.

Even though Spurs haven’t won a European-led competition since the 1980s, or just a trophy at all since 2008, a lot seems to depend on Postecoglou winning something to save his job, which is rather strange for a club not used to winning trophies in recent times.

But, from the perspective of the man himself, Postecoglou won trophies galore at Celtic, but that mindset has shifted pretty quickly ever since his exit during the summer of 2023.

Ange Postecoglou is ‘missing’ the relentless winning culture of Celtic

Postecoglou didn’t just win trophies at Spurs, but he has been used to doing that during his whole managerial career, and now it has come to a stop.

As a result of that, Stephen McGinn feels Postecoglou is now ‘missing bits of the Celtic job’, as he told Go Radio.

The brother of Aston Villa captain, John McGinn, he explained how the ‘atmosphere’ at Tottenham is different to the one generated inside Celtic Park, and that has also played a part in his struggles in north London.

“It’s turning into a bit of a witch-hunt,” responded McGinn. “In terms of the league, they have lost almost half of their league games.

“It hasn’t been good enough. Through injuries and a couple of signings not working out. It hasn’t really happened for him in his second season. They are almost holding him by the throat because he said, ‘I win in my second season’.

“Jose Mourinho came in with that sort of bullish attitude. He won loads in different countries, and he was coming in with that fresh attitude. Ange Postecoglou came in on the back of that intense winning mentality at Celtic. I think he would have struggled with that.

“Although you are working with the best facilities and a lot of money to spend. I think he will miss bits of the Celtic job, in terms of that relentless winning and culture of it, as opposed to the tourists in the big home games.

“I have been to their new stadium, it doesn’t seem to have the same atmosphere as White Hart Lane. There are a lot of phones out. Maybe that intensity they play at Celtic, a lot of that was the atmosphere from the stands. He hasn’t got that quite going at Tottenham.”

Postecoglou’s record as Tottenham manager

Daniel Levy is the man making calls at the top of Tottenham’s trees, and he booted out the trophy-winning Jose Mourinho a week before a League Cup final, so that proves and shows the pathetic mindset the English businessman has.

Therefore, if Ange does get sacked, then it’s no bother because Tottenham are acting a lot bigger than they think they are and he will get a job elsewhere.

Either way, this is Postecoglou’s record at Tottenham so far.
