Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers told Rangers how it was months before Philippe Clement’s sacking

It’s the same old, same old for Celtic and Rangers.

Rangers sacking another manager and Celtic pushing for another Treble. It’s Deja Vu for Brendan Rodgers in Glasgow.

When Celtic were beaten by Hibernian on Saturday lunchtime, you thought that win for David Gray’s side would be the headline of the weekend and that pretty poor performance from the champions.

But, within hours of that match in Edinburgh concluding, Rangers were beaten at Ibrox by St Mirren and, somehow, managed to fall further behind in the Premiership table.

It was a great laugh for the Celtic Park faithful, but Clement has now been sacked and he leaves after winning just one trophy.

Just like Rangers’ greatest-ever manager in recent times – Steven Gerrard – he also lifted just one trophy, so perhaps, they are trying to build a consistent theme here.

But, months before Clement’s sacking, Rodgers had already slapped the ultimate truth bombs on the table of Rangers and now it’s come true.

Brendan Rodgers’ brutal truth to Rangers months before Philippe Clement’s sacking

Over Rodgers’ two spells at Celtic, he has seen them all off and the number continues to rise – that’s six managers who have faced the Irishman and failed to dethrone him.

But he tried to warn those across the road about that in December when he expressed how he is always told that ‘Rangers are coming’, as posted by STV Sport.

Rodgers stated how it’s ‘normal’ for some to think that Celtic should ‘fear’ Rangers coming, but in the end, nothing happens and the number of managers he has faced is proof of that.

“Over my two spells here, I’ve worked against five Rangers managers and every time, Rangers were coming,” said Rodgers before the New Year.

“Every time, at some point. So, for me it’s normal. Like I said the other day, if I listen to the media and the press, then we would be in constant crisis mode and fear of Rangers.

“But it’s the fifth manager now, so for me, my focus is only on Celtic and concentrated very much on here. A lot of the stuff that maybe does go around, thankfully, I ignore it.”

Rodgers’ record as Celtic manager vs Clement

Whether it’s at Ibrox, Celtic Park or Hampden. Most of the time, the same result reared its ugly head for Clement and that’s a win for Rodgers.

Rodgers’ only loss against Clement was the most recent meeting after the New Year, but still, his dominance over the now-sacked manager was there for all to see.

When Rangers beat Celtic last time out, many felt it was just papering over the cracks and normal service would resume in next to no time.

And that’s exactly what has happened, as Celtic march towards more success.
