Celtic fans all know that Kyogo Furuhashi is one of the hardest-working members of the Celtic first team. The Japanese striker has been a pivotal part of our pressing game over the last two seasons and yesterday against Wolves in Dublin, it was on show again.
But a lot of the time we fans who watch at home don’t get to see all of the work that Kyogo puts in off the ball. The Hoops forward is relentless and tireless when it comes to his defensive duties and because the camera is always following the action, we miss it.
Celtic posted footage of the goal from their Unique Angle in the Aviva Stadium and it showed just how the 28-year-old is anticipating a mistake from the Wolves defender who was under pressure from Reo Hatate:
Kyogo’s presence of mind and his prowess as he watched the press from Hatate was something else. And then when the mistake that he was anticipating finally came, he seemed to pounce from nowhere and capitalise on the error.
It really was a great piece of play by the Celtic striker and it is what we have become accustomed to from him since he joined us from Vissel Kobe.

For Kyogo, it will be great to finally find the back of the net. After a goalless two fixtures in the Japan Tour, he would have been itching to find the back of the net at some point before the season started.
The Celtic striker was prolific last season after he won the SPFL Top Goalscorer Award with 27 goals (34 across all competitions) and he will be eager to build on that and help the new Brendan Rodgers era be as successful as what we witnessed under Ange Postecoglou.
Celtic kick off the season next Saturday against Ross County in the highly anticipated Flag Day fixture. Now that Kyogo has his shooting boots on, the Celtic fans will be looking forward to seeing their Japanese talisman continue his impressive goalscoring form for the club.
