The Celtic players haven’t covered themselves in glory in recent matches.

Yes, Wilfried Nancy is under serious pressure, and if he loses to Aberdeen on Sunday, then he probably won’t be in a job.

But the Celtic players need to take a lot of responsibility for losing four games on the bounce, including to Dundee United on Wednesday night.

Say what you want about Nancy’s formation and tactics, some of the performances on show from the Celtic players have been unacceptable, and Chris Sutton called out Johnny Kenny for what he has been producing this term.

What personnel changes should Wilfried Nancy make against Aberdeen?

Chris Sutton brutally rates Johnny Kenny at Celtic

After Kyogo Furuhashi’s exit in January and then Adam Idah leaving in the summer, it has provided Kenny with more first-team minutes.

Sutton knows exactly what it takes to lead the line for Celtic, and he didn’t hold back in stating that Kenny isn’t even good enough to play for a top-six Premiership team, as he told The Daily Record.

“Listen, I’ve said it repeatedly. This is the chickens coming home to roost for Celtic, and they are now paying the price for the woeful transfer window in the summer,” explained Sutton.

“This is a bang average squad lacking in quality and missing some very important players. You only have to look at the striker problems for starters.

“No harm to Johnny Kenny, as he’s a young lad who wasn’t expected to be in this position at this stage of his Celtic career, but he wouldn’t be leading the line for most of the other top six sides in the Scottish Premiership.”

Should Celtic have held on to Adam Idah? Let us know in the comments.

Should Celtic sign a striker in January?

Believe it or not, Celtic do have a lot of striker options at the club; it’s just a case of whether they are good enough or not.

Osmand won’t be back anytime soon, so you can rule him out, whilst Kelechi Iheanacho can’t stop getting injured, and this panic summer buy has proven to be disastrous.

Then you have Shin Yamada, who hasn’t seen the light of day, and also Daizen Maeda, who wanted to leave in the summer.

All in all, the striker department is a mess, and you sense players need to leave in January before it can be properly reshaped and new faces can come in.
