Chris Sutton shares which team is more in ‘crisis’, Celtic or Liverpool

Chris Sutton has had plenty to say about Celtic since the defeat to Hearts at the weekend.

Sutton got into a heated argument about Celtic’s recruitment with Neil Lennon and Kris Boyd on Sky Sports prior to the Tynecastle game.

The former Celtic striker believes that the transfer business completed by the Bhoys in the summer is a major factor in the team’s poor performances and results this season.

Whereas Lennon believes that the players are good enough, but just need time to settle. Sutton is, of course, correct as it’s been proven with Celtic’s defeat at Hearts.

However, in the English Premier League, Liverpool are also struggling at the moment as the defending champions toil, like Celtic, to muster up any semblance of performance that is befitting of a league winning side.

With the Anfield club sitting seventh and seven points behind leaders Arsenal, Chris Sutton was asked out of Celtic and Liverpool, who he thought were more in a ‘crisis’ this season.

Chris Sutton believes Celtic are more in ‘crisis’ than Liverpool

It appears that the current Premier League champions are in deep trouble and, similar to Celtic, find themselves in as much trouble Rodgers’ side.

But, according to Sutton, his old club’s predicament is worse than Arne Slot’s struggling side.

Sutton said on BBC 606, “That is a great question. I would say Celtic.

“Yeah. I mean, that’s a situation which is really hard to measure. And I think you may have a point there.

“It’s a situation at Liverpool where, you know, there has been a lot of talk about the money which has been spent. The issue I’ve got with Liverpool is, I know Mo Salah isn’t firing. Brilliant goal that he scored last night, but he’s not really firing as he did last season.

“But defensively, I just think Liverpool are all over the place and you’re going to concede goals. And I don’t think you can win titles if you’re leaky at the back.”

Celtic’s form compared to Liverpool

Celtic are not only struggling for wins, but Brendan Rodgers’ side is also struggling for goals.

But are Celtic really worse off than Liverpool? Let’s take a look at the stats:

Liverpool have lost four out of their last four league games, whereas Celtic have lost just two. With both teams struggling to buy a win, it seems Rodgers and Slot are both in hot water this season.
