Jeffrey Schlupp left Celtic at the end of the season to return to Crystal Palace as a Scottish champion.
The Ghanaian was brought to Celtic Park on loan to help deliver competition to Greg Taylor in the Hoops defence.
After an initial positive start, Schlupp dropped out of the Celtic starting XI as Taylor quickly re-established himself as a Hoops first-pick.
Despite that though, Schlupp played a big part in Celtic’s league title win and returned from his loan spell to Crystal Palace at the end of the season.
However, Palace released Schlupp yesterday and just hours after the announcement, the Premier League club made another announcement about the ex-Celtic defender.

Jeffrey Schlupp’s Outstanding Contribution Award after Crystal Palace exit
Crystal Palace announced that Schlupp was being allowed to leave the club at the end of his contract at 3:15pm yesterday afternoon.
However, three hours later, the Premier League club honoured the former Celtic defender and announced he was to receive an Outstanding Contribution Award from chairman Steve Parish for Schlupp’s time at Crystal Palace.
Parish told Crystal Palace’s official website, “Jeffrey is somebody who has contributed massively to the club – and not only has he been outstanding for the club, he’s also been a fantastic friend.
“He is everything that is Crystal Palace. He comes in and he works tirelessly every day, sets the right mentality and has the right attitude. He deserves to be recognised with the Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Contribution.”
Schlupp made 247 appearances for Palace scoring 19 goals and creating 17 assists but failed to win any silverware at the club.
Jeffrey Schlupp’s Celtic stats
Schlupp divided Celtic fan opinion over his four months at the club.
However, he still contributed to Celtic’s Scottish Premiership title win with goals and assists. Here are his stats from his short loan spell:
- Appearances: 18
- Goals: 1
- Assists: 1
- Tackles won: 73.3%
- Passing accuracy: 87.1%
- Average Fotmob rating: 6.93
Now a free agent, Schlupp is looking for a new club and with rumours linking him to a permanent Celtic move he may well be seen in the green and white Hoops again.
