You would think Celtic beating Young Boys on Wednesday night would be the main talking point the day after, but think again!
It’s the return of Jota, who left Celtic for Saudi Arabia during the summer of 2023, that is now doing the rounds and making the headlines in Glasgow.
Kyogo Furuhashi is set to leave Celtic and join French side, Rennes – he started Celtic’s win over Young Boys in the Champions League and it proved to be his last outing for the club.
Jota is on Rennes books after joining them in the summer, but he has been frozen out and that has opened the door for the Scottish champions to bring him back.
There is no doubt that the Celtic faithful will have mixed feelings about all of this, but everyone will be looking forward to Jota’s return and how he works under Brendan Rodgers.
Celtic told Nicolas Kuhn is better than Jota
The man flying down the flanks now for Celtic is Nicolas Kuhn and he has been the club’s best player this season as they push for the Treble.
Kuhn made a slow start at Celtic, but has since picked up and can’t be stopped. It even resulted in an Open Goal pundit making a bold claim about the German.
Former Celtic youth player Paul Slane suggested that Kuhn is better than Jota and he is on a ‘different level’ to his soon-to-be teammate.

“Kuhn is so good,” said Slane. “I think Kuhn, and I am going to say this, it might be quite the statement, but I think he is better than Jota, when Jota was at Celtic.
“I really, really do. Jota was exceptional, but I think Kuhn is on a different level now. It’s maybe hard to say.
On what Kuhn is better at than Jota: “One-v-one and taking players on. He was good at that, but Kuhn is better and much quicker. Jota’s numbers were really good as well, but Kuhn’s numbers this season have been incredible.”
Kuhn’s stats at Celtic compared to Jota
Whoever is better will now be put to the test because Celtic fans will get to watch the duo rip up teams up and down the land.
Not forgetting that Celtic are in the knockout stages of the Champions League, so that extra level of quality player is going to be needed, especially with Kyogo going.
But how do Kuhn and Jota’s stats in Celtic colours compare? 67 Hail Hail recently took a look and this is how they stack up.
| Celtic record | Minutes | Goals | Assists | Goals per 90 | Assists per 90 |
| Nicolas Kuhn | 1875 | 16 | 11 | 0.77 | 0.53 |
| Jota | 2925 | 15 | 12 | 0.46 | 0.37 |
