Even Kris Boyd can’t deny horrible truth for Rangers as he makes Celtic and Brendan Rodgers claim

The clock is ticking down until Callum McGregor and Brendan Rodgers lift another Premiership title for Celtic.

It was another normal weekend of action in Scotland because Celtic beat St Mirren 5-2 in the evening game on Saturday.

Hours after Barry Ferguson lost his first home game in charge of Rangers to Motherwell, as his homecoming was as comical as the Ibrox club’s season so far.

Celtic are now 16 points clear at the top of the Premiership table, with the Treble still on ahead of the Scottish Cup next week against Hibernian.

As the Celtic manager stated back in December, whenever he has been in Glasgow, he has always been told that ‘Rangers are coming’.

But time and time again, his teams do the talking on the field of play and he sees off another Rangers manager, as he did with the sacked Philippe Clement recently.

Following Celtic’s win over St Mirren, Kris Boyd brought up the subject of the noise in Glasgow.

Kris Boyd on Celtic concentrating on themselves as the Premiership title nears

It must be uncomfortable for Boyd to sit in the Sky Sports studios, watch Celtic secure another three points, hours after Rangers’ horror show at Ibrox in Ferguson’s first home game.

The former striker stated one thing he has liked about Celtic and Rodgers, and that’s how they have ‘concentrated on themselves’ and not worried about ‘outside noise’, as he told Sky Sports Football (01/03/25 at 7:55 pm).

It’s the horrible truth for Rangers, but that’s why Celtic are heading towards more dominance in Scotland, with Neill Lennon also sharing his thoughts.

“They are 16 points clear, they are well on their way to winning another championship,” said Lennon.

“When you have got the strength of depth that Celtic have, at the minute, and the quality that they have, then you can’t see anyone touching them, at the minute.”

Boyd responded on Celtic having the opportunity to get closer to the title after Rangers drop points: “We make more of it. When Rangers drop points or when Celtic drop points. We look more at it.

“I think when you look at this Celtic team and at Brendan Rodgers for a period of time here. He has concentrated on what they need to do. I think it’s a good habit for Celtic to be in.

“There isn’t much outside noise. They went to the match and did whatever they needed to do. That’s exactly what they have done. They have won the game, won it comfortably and deserved the three points.”

A rare week coming up for Celtic and Brendan Rodgers

It has been another blood and thunder campaign for the Hoops, in regards to the scheduling, especially with the revamped Champions League format.

And given that Celtic reached the knockout stages, it meant more games and less rest.

Well, for only the second time since the turn of the year, Celtic will have a full week off as they prepare for the Scottish Cup home clash against Hibernian on March 9, before the derby itself.

Then, the international break kicks in and Celtic return hoping to still be on for the Treble because it won’t be too long before the title is secured.
