Celtic have had a number of young talents leave the club over the years and fail to make the grade at their new clubs.
For whatever reason, leaving Celtic has not just worked out as youngsters go out in search of first-team football.
The likes of Vincent Angelini and Josh Adam left Celtic to forge a career for themselves down south.
And whilst Adam was released by Man City, he now finds himself at Wrexham and young Angelini is plying his trade in Saudi Arabia after his moves to Watford and Brentford didn’t work out.
However, young Ewan Otto, who left Celtic in 2023 in search of regular football, is now impressing after a positional change has seen him bag his fourth goal for the club at the weekend.
Otoo flourishing as a midfielder after Celtic exit
Young Otoo left Celtic as a central defender last summer as he helped Dunfermline win League One and promotion to the Championship.
However, being deployed as a midfielder, Otto scored his first goal for The Pars back in May of last year during his loan spell at the club.
Now a permanent member of the first-team squad, Otoo scored again at the weekend as he continued his development in his new role.
Otoo was predominantly being used as a central defender in the early days of his move to Dunfermline but over the last 21 games, the former Celtic youngster has been deployed in the central midfield areas where he seems to be flourishing.
In total far he has made 15 appearances as a defensive midfielder, six as a central midfielder, four as a left-sided and has even been deployed as an attacking midfielder since joining the club. [Transfermarkt]
Otoo hoping to kickstart Dunfermline’s season
Delighted at scoring his fourth for Dunfermline, Otoo hopes that the win against Raith will help their push for promotion.

Otoo told Dunfermline’s official website, ” It is all that we have been talking about all week. We had a good performance against Ayr two weeks ago, a good performance last week against East Fife and we were just looking forward to taking that into this game.
“Thankfully we got a result and we have to keep building on that. It is important psychologically, when you look at the table it does make a difference. Now it looks better for us and hopefully we can keep moving up the way and see where it takes us.”
Scoring in Dunfermline’s last two fixtures, Otoo has helped his club win their first game of the season as they hope to return to Scotland’s top flight for the first time since 2012.
At just 22, young Otoo looks like he could have a good career ahead of himself and it will be interesting to see if he will be lining up against Celtic sometime in the near future.
