Five Celtic players snapped arriving at Lennoxtown for pre-season early

Plenty has happened since the 2024/25 season ended for Celtic in disappointment.

The Hoops narrowly missed out on a domestic Treble as Aberdeen won the Scottish Cup final last month on penalties at Hampden.

Celtic stars have since enjoyed a rest with many jetting off on holiday, while back at the club, work was already underway over delivering new signings.

Kieran Tierney was signed on a free after he left Arsenal, as was Ross Doohan following his exit from Aberdeen.

Benjamin Nygren is Celtic’s latest recruit having signed a five-year contract for a fee of £2m from FC Nordsjælland.

Celtic’s first-team stars were expected to return for pre-season on July 1, but it appears some have pitched up at Lennoxtown early.

SNS were present at a wet and gloomy Lennoxtown on Friday morning, before heading down to Celtic Park for the unveiling of Nygren.

At the training ground, they took pictures of Luke McCowan, Nicolas Kuhn, Ross Doohan, Johnny Kenny and Adam Montgomery.

All of the players were holding a bag and dressed in casual clothing as they get set to return to full fitness ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

McCowan is contracted until 2027, with Doohan here until 2028. For the rest, their respective futures are up in the air.

Kuhn is being heavily linked with RB Leipzig and Como 1907, with Celtic said to be holding out for £17m if bids start to come in.

Como have allegedly already entered into talks with Celtic, although they are on the verge of signing wingers Jesus Rodriguez and Jayden Addai for a combined £29m.

Meanwhile, Bolton Wanderers are expected to table an improved second bid for striker Kenny after Celtic turned down an opening offer of £500k.

And it is unlikely Montgomery has a long-term future with the Hoops. The 22-year-old spent the latter half of last season on loan to Queen’s Park.

Celtic’s first pre-season friendly is against the Spiders at Lesser Hampden on July 4.
