Celtic’s defeat to Dundee United might be the result that breaks every fan this week.

Even after Celtic lost to St Mirren in the Premier Sports Cup final, there was still a sizable number of supporters willing to give Nancy a chance.

However, after watching Celtic collapse at Dundee United, it will be hard to find many, if any, Hoops supporters willing to give the Frenchman more time.

Celtic fans made their feelings perfectly clear to the Parkhead board members who attended the match at Dundee United and shortly after full time.

And now, it seems that Nancy’s struggles at Celtic are reaching the US as Fox Sports pundit Stu Holden nails it with his verdict on the former Columbus Crew manager.

Stu Holden brands Wilfried Nancy ‘naive’ at Celtic

As soon as the final whistle blew at Tannadice, Fox Sports’ Stu Holden tweeted his assessment on Nancy’s start at Celtic to over 400,000 followers.

Holden said on X, “What a disastrous start for Wilfried Nancy — that’s now 4 straight losses at Celtic with rumours that he could be out.

“Columbus might even have a chance to hire him back before they’ve found a new coach. Genuinely feel for him, a lot of factors at play— including a really tough schedule of games at the beginning.”

If there are rumours in the US about Nancy leaving Celtic then he really is in trouble, especially after Michael Nicholson gave the Frenchman his full and unequivocal backing yesterday afternoon.

Holden brands Celtic boss ‘naive’ and says Nancy ‘might pay the price’

Holden didn’t stop there. The US pundit was pretty brutal as he called Nancy ‘naive’ and said he didn’t understand the pressures that come from managing Celtic.

Holden continued, “He’s proven himself as an excellent coach in MLS and great at developing players— but the European pressures at a club like Celtic, demand winning from the off.

“I hope he gets more time to get his fingerprints on the team, but unfortunately I don’t think he will. He’s been too naive in how quickly he thought he could implement his style of play and get wins— for which he might pay the price.”

Even US pundits are realising that the Celtic job is too big for Nancy? Is he right?

Whether Nancy will be dismissed from Celtic is one for the board to deal with but after the latest performance and the Hoops boss’ refusal to adapt his tactics, it’s hard to disagree with Holden’s assessment.

Nancy is being naive and churlish and if he wants to save his Celtic career, he must do what Martin O’Neill did and get the best out of the players he has at his disposal.

Because right now, what Nancy is doing is not working and it could cost him his Celtic job.
