Gabby Agbonlahor suggests ‘petty’ way for Celtic to seek revenge on Rangers’ Vaclav Cerny over water chaos

Vaclav Cerny is public enemy number one at Celtic Park right now.

The Czech played the pantomime villain after skooshing water in Celtic fans’ faces after Rangers won 3-2 in the Glasgow derby last weekend.

Cerny was “pathetic and infantile”, according to two former referees and we couldn’t have put it any better ourselves.

The Ibrox winger faces a ban for his actions after the fact but talkSPORT pundit and former Aston Villa star reckons Celtic’s players should take matters into their own hands with a “petty” revenge plot.

Agbonlahor urged Celtic to squirt Cerny in the face next game

Agbonlahor has always had a soft spot for Celtic and watched the 3-0 win for the hosts back in September with his Mrs. And he offered Callum McGregor some handy advice in dealing with Cerny.

“Do you know how petty I am Al (Brazil)? If I was a Celtic player, Callum McGregor or something and we play them next time, when he’s not looking or at half-time walking off…I’m squirting him, right after the game,” Agbonlahor laughed.

“I’m getting the water bottle and I’m going to squirt him in the face with it.

“It’s petty isn’t it? It’s not a big deal and it’s quite funny.

“It’s the team that you really hate, your biggest rival and their player, after conceding a late goal, has squirted you in the face. You’d be fuming Al, in your corporate seat if someone squirted you in the face? Of course you would.”

Cerny’s actions were stupid but with Police Scotland involved, the issue has grown arms and legs since the derby ended back on March 16.

Why other pundits don’t understand size of Celtic vs Rangers rivalry

Many pundits and ex-players have weighed in on the stupidity of Cerny with most agreeing it was a moment of madness from the player who should indeed be sanctioned by the SPFL.

One talkSPORT man, Danny Murphy proved he doesn’t understand the rivalry in Scotland’s Premiership as he claimed the same problem would not have been as big a deal back in the day.

Murphy said: “Isn’t it mad though how far we’ve come, the world has come. It is crazy. 20 years ago this would never even have been mentioned. A little bit of water? I get it, it’s a big game and you want people to behave. Especially with the size of that one in Scotland.

“But I think generally most people would say, ‘Oh he’s gone a bit far, it’s not the end of the world, let’s move on’.”
