The Jamie Vardy to Celtic rumour has been hitting the headlines today.

Vardy has been spoken about in Celtic circles for what seems like the whole summer and even Sky Sports’ latest Celtic update sheds some light on the rumour.

Whether Celtic fans want Vardy or not, has split opinion.

However, former Rangers manager Barry Ferguson has nailed his colours to the mast and has publicly declared that he hopes Celtic don’t manage to sign the former Leicester City man.

Barry Ferguson hopes Jamie Vardy doesn’t sign for Celtic

Ferguson returns to the radio airwaves after helping Rangers end a trophyless season after Celtic won a league and cup double.

And with Celtic looking to strengthen their front line, the former Rangers man is in a sweat about the prospect of Vardy moving to Parkhead.

Ferguson told The Go Radio Football Show, “Yeah, I was just about to say that. I would rather see him in a blue shirt.

“I know he’s 37, 38, but I watched him last year in the Premier League for Leicester and he still looked quick and sharp.

“He knows where the goal is. I think he would be a brilliant signing for Celtic, but hopefully they don’t get him, because I think he could cause major trouble up here in terms of how good he is.”

Jamie Vardy’s all-time goal scoring record amid Celtic chat

Vardy has been prolific over his years as a professional footballer and now that a move to Celtic is being spoken about, here is the former England striker’s goal record:

Whilst Vardy’s Leicester record looks excellent, six goals in 42 appearances in season 2022/23, 20 in 37 in 2023/24 and 10 in 36 last season suggests he still has an eye for goal despite being close to retirement.
