Inverness Caledonian Thistle have seemingly hatched a plan to prevent Celtic fans from buying tickets from them for next month’s Scottish Cup final.

We’re now just two-and-a-half weeks away from the big Hampden showpiece as Ange Postecoglou bids for his first treble as Celtic manager.

As we told you earlier, Celtic fans on the Home Cup Ticket Scheme are set for the rare novelty of being guaranteed a ticket for the match.

Last week, the Highlanders announced that season ticket holders would be able to buy up to eight tickets each, with a general sale also following.

With some Celtic fans no doubt licking their lips at the prospect of being able to sort their ticket directly from Inverness, for the Caley end, they have hatched a plan to prevent that from happening.

Caley Thistle have posted a general sale update on their website which may have put a dampener on proceedings.

They say: “Supporters must either have an account registered with the club before April 1 2023 or those who bought tickets for our semi final against Falkirk may also purchase tickets by coming in-store.”

Of course, these are their tickets and they are totally entitled to do what they feel is best.

However, it does seem like the April 1 cut-off may have backfired with some of their own fans too.

Local paper The Inverness Courier say that Caley fans have contacted them “expressing their disappointment that they were not able to purchase tickets for the final after being told they were not registered.”

It is likely that some of their supporters will miss out on the game as a result, although they will argue that they are just doing what is best to keep Celtic fans out their end.

Nevertheless, the stadium is going to be packed full of our lot. It could be a very memorable day.
