Celtic hero Ange Postecoglou is feeling the heat at Tottenham Hotspur.

Days after Spurs beat Manchester United 4-3 to progress to the semi-final of the League Cup, they were beaten 6-3 on home soil by Premier League leaders, Liverpool.

Ever since Postecoglou swapped the Celtic dugout for Tottenham’s, there has been one constant point of discussion around him and that’s his style of play.

When Postecoglou first joined Celtic in 2021, he came from J-League side Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan, but was a relatively unknown figure amongst the fanbase.

But it didn’t take him too long to warm up to the fans and the manner in which he conducted himself in media, as well as his style of play, was a huge factor behind that, before he could bring home the trophies.

All of that is now causing a huge debate in England and Jamie Carragher isn’t moving off his stance about Postecoglou.

Jamie Carragher says Ange Postecoglou won’t win anything at Tottenham with ultra attacking style

Carragher feels Postecoglou, especially in the middle of an injury crisis for his team, needs to adapt and be less gung-ho.

The former defender stated that the 59-year-old, who started off in Australia and also won the Treble at Celtic, has had a ‘brilliant journey’ to get to the Premier League, as he told Sky Sports.

But he was insistent that, like current Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers when he was at Liverpool, ‘you won’t win anything’ playing in his all-action and attacking style of play.

“It’s not about his style of play,” insisted Carragher. “If everyone is fully fit and he wants to do things slightly different and every manager who comes in has a different way of doing things.

“Pep’s doing it slightly different to Slot or when Klopp comes in and he has his thing. You have to have your own idea and have something different that makes you special. Makes you start off in Australia and gets you to the Premier League. It’s a brilliant journey he has been on and he has got a way about that. But when you have your best team, not when you are down to the bare bones. You can’t.

“Not that I expect Tottenham to win the Premier League, by the way. But nobody has won anything playing like that. Les (Ferdinand) knows that better than anyone else. Almost Kevin Keegan-like (the Newcastle entertainers of the 90s’). The other team I could almost associate with that is Brendan Rodgers with Liverpool. Where it was just end-to-end. They end up coming a little bit short because you have to respect the opposition. You have got to respect the defensive side of the game.”

Celtic fans will love Postecoglou’s response after Tottenham’s defeat to Liverpool

Postecoglou is pure gold with his interviews, and whatever you think, at least he is entertaining in all aspects and different to the rest.

That isn’t changing even after shipping six goals at home, with Spurs having to play four back-up players in their backline, including a teenager because of injuries.

Celtic fans will forever love Postecoglou, and regardless of what the English media say, he isn’t changing for anyone or anything.

“I think I have been really, really patient in the last 18 months, sitting here answering the same questions over and over again,” said Postecoglou.

“If people want me to change my approach, it’s not going to change. We are doing it for a reason. We are doing it because we think it will help us be successful. If people don’t under the circumstances we are in, at the moment, and the challenges we have from a team and squad, perspective, which is as obvious as you want to make them.

“I get the idea people think that I should flick the switch and change. Somehow that would miraculously make us a different team. It is what it is. I am going to continue to stay focused on trying to build this team to be the team we want.”
