The Celtic fans will, undoubtedly, have the lowdown on new signings Hyunjun Yang and Hyeokkyu Kwon. The supporters will have all done their research and checked YouTube for footage of the new signings as they try and guess how they will fit into Brendan Rodgers’ new-look Celtic.
But with all the best will in the world, social media clips and match reports online don’t really give half the story of what the players can do.
But K League expert, Ross Davis can. Davis is an analyst focusing on the Korean top division and in an interview with Stephen McGowan, he reveals what the Celtic fans can expect to see from the two new signings.
Davis said [Scottish Daily Mail], “Yang was the K-League young player of the season and it wasn’t even close. He absolutely walked the award.

“They have monthly awards as well and I think he won it, like, eight out of the ten months. He had a really good game against Tottenham in the All-Stars friendly last year and that really propelled him to a new level.
“I don’t know precisely when Celtic started watching, but I think a few clubs took an interest after that. Yang floats around, he doesn’t stay on the wing. He likes to come inside and have a shot. He has a great deal of speed, good trickery on the ball and he is absolutely at his best running at defences.
“Last season his goals were vital and he was scoring from all kinds of opportunities. He scored with his right foot, his left, he scored headers.”
And on Kwon, it seems like Celtic have a real battler on their hands. The defensive midfielder has aims of becoming one of the best players at Celtic so he, clearly, doesn’t lack confidence. But he also has other qualities that will endear him to the Hoops support.
Davis continued, “You won’t see too many players muscle him off the ball. While he is quite a skinny guy, he is deceptively strong.
“He does his job quietly, without ceremony. He has a very good temperament, I can’t remember him attracting too many yellow cards despite where he plays. He is probably the best young Korean defensive midfielder around.”
If both players can replicate anywhere near what Davis has told us about them, there are exciting times ahead for the Celtic fans indeed.

Celtic have lacked a combative midfielder for the last couple of seasons now and Kwon certainly seems like the kind of player that could fill that role.
And for Yang, it seems that he could be the ideal man to pick up from where Jota left off. However, it seems now that he will face stiff competition from Liel Abada who is now committed to staying at Celtic.
With the kick-off to the new season just over a week away, the supporters won’t have to wait too long to catch a glimpse of the new signings.
