Mathias Kvistgaarden is a name that just won’t go away in the Celtic transfer rumour mill.
Kvistgaarden came close to joining Celtic in January and the Brondby forward has been linked with a move again this summer.
Brendan Rodgers faces competition from several European clubs for his signature, however, with West Ham United joining the race to sign Kvistgaarden.
Meanwhile, Scott Burns believes Kvistgaarden could join Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.
Any deal would see Celtic almost certainly break their transfer record – 12 months after signing Arne Engels for £11m, but it could be money well spent.
Convincing him to choose Parkhead over other suitors will be the key and thankfully, Kasper Schmeichel has already provided a glowing endorsement of the club.
Kasper Schmeichel took ‘five or ten minutes’ to choose Celtic
Schmeichel may have had his critics towards the end of the season but for the large part, the 38-year-old has been fantastic in goal.
Keeping over 20 clean sheets in his debut season, as well as winning two domestic trophies, he’s been a valuable replacement for Joe Hart.
Signing for Celtic didn’t take much convincing and Kvistgaarden may be aligned with the idea that once Celtic come calling, it’s hard to turn down.
Speaking to TNT Sports in October 2024, Schmeichel said: “When a club the size of Celtic comes and wants you to play for them, the conversation can’t have been much more than five or ten minutes long.”
Kasper Schmeichel could persuade Mathias Kvistgaarden to join Celtic again

As fate would happen, Schmeichel may get the chance to try and convince Kvistgaarden one last time.
For the first time in his career, the Brondby attacker has been called up to Denmark’s national team squad, where he could play alongside Schmeichel.
As a legend of the national team and the country’s captain, Schmeichel is someone that Kvistgaarden will look up to no doubt and could be the final push he needs to come to Glasgow this summer.
