Kjetil Knutsen finally clarifies stance on recurring Celtic speculation

Kjetil Knutsen has made it very clear where his future lies as his name was once again brought up in relation to the Celtic job.

Knutsen has been the dream candidate for Celtic fans following his wonderful work at Bodo/Glimt but has always been likely to face competition from other suitors.

Martin O’Neill will be replaced in the summer and getting that replacement right is vital. Other target, Jens Berthel Askou, seems like he is planning to stay at Motherwell and now Knutsen is seemingly following in line.

Speaking to Norwegian outlet TV2, Knutsen made it evidently clear that he has no time for job offers and wants to continue his work at Bodo/Glimt.

“For me, it will be very easy. I have committed to Bodo/Glimt and then I am 100% in Glimt. All other interests are completely uninteresting to me,” he confessed.

“We are in the middle of a season, and everything other than Glimt that I spend time on takes away concentration and focus.

“There are also an incredible number of exciting and interesting jobs outside Bodo. Just not to glorify Glimt too much – there are interesting opportunities elsewhere too. But right now, my focus is very much on Glimt and nothing else.”

The Kjetil Knutsen dream is over

Let’s face it, Knutsen was never going to join Celtic.

Not only is he a legend at Bodo, he also has the sort of power that a Hoops manager could only dream of when working with his Celtic board.

Abandoning a project like that for one that could take a while to rebuild in Glasgow is always going to be a tough sell, but that should put the rumours and hopes of the 57-year-old joining to bed.

That could also affect Celtic’s chances of signing Kasper Hogh this summer, with the striker likely to be influenced by his manager to remain with him instead of joining the Bhoys and continue their upward trajectory.
