It has been an interesting few days in Glasgow as the dust settles from Celtic’s showdown with Rangers.
With Brendan Rodgers’ side bossing proceedings in Scotland, heading towards another Premiership title and a possible Treble, things were slightly disrupted on Sunday.

It’s no bother because normal service will resume at the end of the season, but Celtic suffered a deserved loss to Rangers, and the Ibrox clash after the split is going to be even more interesting now.
In between all of that, Barry Ferguson’s side are still in the Europa League, as they dream of achieving European success that only one Glasgow side has ever brought to the table.
But following the derby game, Kris Boyd dropped some interesting thoughts on how Rangers fans feel about their European adventure, not just this season, but in previous campaigns, compared to what is happening on the domestic stage.

Kris Boyd says Rangers fans are using Europe to ‘escape’ Celtic fans
At the end of the day, the bread and butter will always be the Scottish Premiership title and the other domestic trophies.
Boyd wanted to put that point across and how being in Europe is just a ‘bonus’, but in recent times, Rangers fans have used it to ‘escape’ the Celtic Park faithful, as he told Sky Sports News (19/03/25 at 10:30 am).
The former striker noted how Celtic have been ‘the dominant force’ and Rangers fans ‘might not come out and say it publicly’, but they want those trophies.
“Over the last few years, when Rangers have had success in Europe, a lot of the fans have moved towards that,” said Boyd.
“Obviously, got to a final and got to the latter stages of competitions. Rangers fans have hung onto that and that has been their escape from a lot of Celtic fans.
“To be honest, if you got to speak to any Rangers fans, they might not come out and say it publicly, but you need to win trophies back home. There is no getting away from it.
“Getting into the last six or the last eight, semi-finals, finals or whatever it may be in Europe. I always think it’s a bonus. It’s a reward for the performances you put in the previous season, that you represent your country in Europe again.
“But, for me, the be-all and end-all is winning trophies domestically. Winning league titles. And, you have got to say, Celtic, for a period of time now, have been the dominant force in Scottish football.”
Scotland’s most successful club continues to march on
When Celtic beat Rangers in the League Cup final at Hampden in December, it marked the day the Hoops became Scotland’s most successful club.
That’s 119 trophies to Celtic’s name and there is more to come in these coming months.
It’s a matter of time before the Premiership title is in hand and then it’s the small matter of seeing past St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup semi-final and Aberdeen or Hearts in the final.
If that happens, then it isn’t just another Treble for Celtic, but another one for Rodgers, who has wiped the floor with everyone that has been put in his way in Scotland.
