Kris Boyd is the gift that keeps on giving in Scottish football.
The former Rangers striker has watched on as a Sky Sports pundit during this past decade as Celtic continue to win again and again.
This season is no different, other than Rangers probably beating Boyd by adding even more comedy value to their continually declining club.
After the Ibrox club sacked Russell Martin as manager, several new faces have been linked to the job, including Kevin Muscat, but what can he do to stop Celtic?

Can Kevin Muscat beat Celtic to the title if he becomes Rangers manager?
The title race seems to be between Celtic and Hearts, with Rangers sitting in the bottom half and battling relegation.
But speaking to Sky Sports News (14/10/25), Boyd fully expects Rangers to improve after the October international break by stating, ‘the only way is up.’
Despite Boyd providing daft takes on many occasions, this time, he has his sensible hat on, because even with Muscat’s possible appointment, he simply can’t see Rangers beating Celtic to the title, as he lauded Brendan Rodgers.
Presenter: “If Muscat gets the job. Does Muscat get Rangers back into the title race?”
Boyd: “Yeah, you look at where Rangers are right now. The only way is up. There is no getting away from it there. Performances will improve. They have to. They have a lot of new players coming in who are still trying to find their feet.
“Unfortunately, you don’t get that time in Scottish football, so there are a lot of players who need to up their game as well.
“But I do think Rangers will improve. Is it going to be enough to win the league? Probably not, because of Celtic, the way they are. Brendan Rodgers knows how to get things done. He knows how to win trophies. It’s going to be difficult.
“Do I expect Rangers to improve? Yeah, I do.”
Rangers ‘haven’t got a clue’ as Celtic continue to dominate
Remember, Celtic have also started the season poorly, yet they are unbeaten on the domestic stage, and only two points behind leaders Hearts.
That’s the difference between the clubs on bad days, and everyone has seen what happens when the champions of Scotland put their foot on the accelerator – 13 out of the last 14 titles.
Either way, with Rangers’ manager search still ongoing, especially the humiliating rejection of Steven Gerrard, Boyd thinks his former side are probably proving they ‘haven’t got a clue.’
“There might be a lot of factors here why Rangers are going after a coach, and not a manager as such,” said Boyd.
“One thing I will say, Rangers should have controlled the narrative and made it clear to everyone. Because they have been jumping from Steven Gerrard, then there has been somebody else as the favourite. Then somebody else. It just looks as if the club haven’t got a clue what it’s doing right now.”
