Kris Boyd states what ‘doesn’t matter’ about ‘five or six Celtic players’ amid furious Rangers rant

Celtic head into the international break with a spring in their step, but the same can’t be said for Rangers.

On Sunday, as Celtic beat Motherwell in stoppage time, Rangers dropped points at Falkirk and that then led to Russell Martin getting sacked

Like it is every season, it’s all going off at Rangers, and they are on the floor with no light anywhere to be seen.

What’s been even better about Rangers’ non-stop demise is the fact that it has continually left Sky Sports’ loudmouth Kris Boyd with egg on his face.

Kris Boyd on Celtic’s DNA amid furious Rangers rant

When Boyd was going off on one of his rants about Rangers’ issues, he brought Celtic into the conversation.

The former striker spoke about Celtic’s DNA, and how every season, without fail, there are ‘five or six players’, no matter how they perform, that are at the club the following campaign.

Boyd stated on Sky Sports (05/10/25) that those players understand Celtic’s DNA, but the same can’t be said about Rangers.

“It’s getting worse,” stated Boyd about Rangers’ situation. “Rangers have signed a lot of players.

“When Walter Smith came into Rangers the last time, he identified that there was a problem defensively. We were leaking goals. This is a theme that has been going on with Rangers for a number of months now.

“Nobody cares about the performances, as long as you walk off there with three points. Nobody cares. It’s getting worse.

“The recruitment has been all over the place. If you identify that you don’t have enough winners, you don’t have enough leaders in that dressing room, go and get them. You can’t then go and sign project players, that’s what Rangers have done.

“Signed players, where they thought they are going to bring them in and move them on for big money.

“You go across the city to Celtic, they have got five or six players, that it doesn’t matter, if they have their best season of their life or their worst, they will still be at Celtic next season, because they know the DNA of the football club. Rangers are all over the place right now.”

Who are those five or six Celtic players?

The two obvious ones that jump to mind are captain Callum McGregor and Celtic’s most decorated player of all time, James Forrest.

Boyhood fans, who have come through the academy and understand the champions of Scotland better than anybody else.

You could even add another academy player in Anthony Ralston, into that conversation, who is a perfect squad player for Brendan Rodgers.

Whilst Kieran Tierney left for Arsenal in 2019, he also understands Celtic better than anyone else, and if needed, can explain it and express it to any new players.

Perhaps you could add someone like Cameron Carter-Vickers to that list because he has been a regular since joining in 2022, and you probably can’t see him going anywhere anytime soon.
