Kyogo told Celtic risk was ‘worth taking’ despite disallowed Champions League goal vs Young Boys

Kyogo could have had a hat-trick for Celtic in Wednesday night’s Champions League tie against Young Boys.

The Japanese hitman had two goals disallowed for offside while Callum McGregor was adjudged to have fouled in the build-up to another strike which again cut celebrations short.

It was a difficult evening in front of goal for Kyogo but a 1-0 win was still secured by sub Adam Idah forcing an own goal late in proceedings.

The win meant qualification to the knockout playoff with Celtic still mathematically in the hunt for top eight, albeit that is an unlikely outcome given the luck needed to make it.

It was a nerve-shredding night in Glasgow for Hoops fans but job done one week ahead of schedule with Aston Villa still to come on matchday eight.

Rennes-linked Kyogo was denied Celtic Champions League hattrick

Despite Kyogo being denied his 13th, 14th and 15th goals of the season, TNT commentator Rory Hamilton put it to former Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart that, for the striker’s first goal of the evening at least, he could have allowed the ball to run through to teammate Daizen Maeda who was onside in the moment.

However old pal Hart, during his comms duties live, absolved Kyogo for opting to take the opportunity himself as the lines drawn were so desperately close to being onside.

And the 37-year-old retired stopper believes it was a “risk worth taking” that just didn’t work out.

Asked by Hamilton: “Perhaps he could have let the ball through to Daizen?”

Hart responded: “He probably could have but it was so close that it was probably a risk worth taking to be honest.

“It’s got this place rocking.”

Incredibly, the win over YB could be Kyogo’s final game as a Celt after a £10million bid was launched for his signature in January.

We told you how Ligue 1 side Rennes were keen on the Japanese.

But now it has been reported by the Sun that the French outfit have offered the fee to bring him in now.

Sky Sports also report Kyogo fancies a move to improve his chances of playing for Japan.
