Luke McCowan has won a place in the heart of every Celtic fan as he lives out his dream of pulling on the colours of his boyhood club following a late summer window move from Dundee.

Picked up for a bargain £1 million, the 26-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric rise from the lower leagues over recent years to fulfil his lifelong ambition.

Nevertheless, he isn’t here to make up the numbers. Following an impressive Glasgow Derby debut against Rangers, McCowan got on the scoresheet for Celtic against Heart of Midlothian earlier this month.

Unfortunately, he was cup-tied against Falkirk last week and won’t be available for the Bhoys’ attempts to bring the Premier Sports Cup back to Glasgow’s east end.

Despite missing out, McCowan is determined to be successful at Celtic. He has already shown that he understands the pressure of pulling on the hooped jersey while discussing his motivations for this season and beyond.

Luke McCowan’s superb vow to the Celtic support

Aware of his surroundings, McCowan is conscious of the fact he is living out a fantasy many supporters would’ve grown up dreaming of and has vowed to help his side claim more success and silverware in any way he can.

He stated [The Herald]: “I feel as if the fans are really behind me, because every one of them says to me that I’m living their dream!

“I understand that completely. It might have seemed a bizarre transfer to some. I know I played well last year, but you’re 26 years old, coming from Dundee; it’s not really a common transfer.

“But now I’m here I’ve got to show to those fans that I deserve their support, and I’m desperate to repay them with goals and assists and hopefully by helping the team to win games and trophies.

“I feel that support from the fans everywhere I go, and it’s an incredible thing. It’s obviously nice to hear other people saying how much they are behind me.

“I’ve got a good family too and a good circle, and they all tell me to stay focused and to work as hard as I can. It’s got me this far, so hopefully it can take me further during my time at Celtic.”

Luke McCowan has the right attitude to succeed at Celtic

Having a positive mindset is everything in football, and McCowan appears to have a selfless attitude to match, which can only bode well for his time here.

The Celtic dressing room is a melting pot of different nationalities that combine to give the club a unique worldwide feel. However, acquiring local talent is also important, especially with players who have grown up understanding the Celtic dynamic and the pressure associated with it.

McCowan’s determination has carried him a long way, forming an intriguing career path that isn’t always commonplace in the modern game.

Now ready to run through brick walls for Brendan Rodgers, the stage is set for the Greenock-born man to make a telling impact in the engine room.
