Maik Nawrocki has said that he is looking forward to the Champions League next season as the defender delivered his first interview in the green and white hoops of Celtic.

The Polish u21 international joined the club on a five-year deal this morning and will join up with Rodgers and the squad when they return to training after the Japan Tour.

And whilst Nawrocki waits to meet his new teammates, the 22-year-old has spoken for the first time as a Celtic player and says he is very happy to have made the move to Glasgow.

Nawrocki said [Celtic YouTube], “I feel very, very good here. It’s the first days here in Glasgow I feel very, very good.  I think that Celtic will be the next step for me so I’m very happy.

“We have a lot of possession and it’s also my type of style so I think I will fit in here.

“In Legia, we also have pressure because we are the biggest team in Poland so I’m kind of used to it.

“But of course here’s a little bit different. Champions League, we don’t have it there, but I’m more excited for these things, I don’t, like, feel pressure.

When asked how he feels about working under Brendan Rodgers and if he can learn from the experienced players like Callum McGregor, Nawrocki continued, “Yeah of course experienced players can always help you and speak about and tell you about some situations. I’m looking forward to it.”

It was a very cool, calm and collected interview by our new Bhoy. His experience of playing at a club like Legia Warsaw will undoubtedly stand him in good stead as he looks to adapt to life as a Celtic player.

He will, however, find it tough to break the solid central defensive partnership of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt but by going by this interview, it seems that Nawrocki will rise to the challenge and thrive under that pressure.

Like the rest of the Celtic fans, I cannot wait to see how Nawrocki performs in a Celtic jersey. The new signing will also be looking forward to adding to the two medals he has won at Legia and, hopefully, he will get the chance to do that next season under Brendan Rodgers.
