Mark Guidi makes claim about Celtic and Lennon Miller amid European ‘interest’

The Lennon Miller to Celtic chat has been taking an upward trajectory over the last few days.

As the Motherwell youngster continues his impressive form, he was rewarded with the captaincy in The Steelmen’s League Cup semi-final defeat to Rangers this month.

A report this week said that Miller would cost Celtic £4m if the Parkhead club wanted to make a move for the Scotland U19 kid.

Whether or not Brendan Rodgers will or not is one thing but that hasn’t stopped Mark Guidi from making this claim about Miller to Celtic.

Celtic ‘in the driving seat’ in Scotland to sign Lennon Miller

Guidi was asked about the speculation surrounding Miller, who has just 18 months left on his contract, and said that in Scotland, Celtic are ‘in the driving seat’ for his signature.

Guidi told The Go Radio Football Show [1m 56s], “Motherwell have got a brilliant track record for producing players, for nurturing them. I think Stuart Kettlewell, previously you had Stuart McCall and Stephen Robinson, Mark McGhee, who all handled it really well.

“And Stuart Kettlewell is doing the same. I have a feeling Lennon Miller will be sold in January, perhaps slowing back for the rest of the season. But the interest is too strong in him now.

“I think he’ll go for in the region of three and a half to four and a half million pounds with add-ons. And in terms of here, I’m not saying he’s going to stay in this country because there’s interest from down south and from Germany and from Spain.

“But Celtic, no doubt, I would imagine in this country because of their financial muscle, very much in the driving seat.”

What’s currently been said about Lennon Miller joining Celtic

Lennon Miller was last linked to Celtic back in September 2023. Since then that link has gone cold but it hasn’t stopped former players and pundits talking about a possible move.

Just this week, Gordon Dalziel urged Celtic to sign Miller and loan him straight back to Motherwell to help continue his development.

Simon Donnelly’s advice to Miller on joining Celtic had the former Hoops striker telling the youngster he needs to keep playing week in and week out whilst praising the ‘super talent’.

Finally, Andy Walker gave Miller a Celtic pecking order placement should Rodgers sign him and believed that the Scotland U19 midfielder would ‘be like Luke McCowan’ where he would play a bit part service behind Reo Hatate, Callum McGregor and Arne Engels.

There is no doubt young Miller is a hugely talented player and if the opportunity arose then Celtic must take it. At just 18, for the ability he has already, this is a transfer that can be called a no-brainer.
