Away from the madness of the Celtic manager search for a minute, Hoops captain Callum McGregor has been speaking about the success of this season in an interview on Celtic TV.
McGregor led the club to their record-breaking eighth domestic treble, his fifth as a player, and praised the Celtic support for their part in the celebrations.
Speaking to Celtic TV, McGregor said, “They are so special. They are the heartbeat of the club. There’s probably not many clubs around the world, if any, that follow the team like Celtic do.

“And when the team is successful, when the club is successful to have that many people gather after the game, you look at the Celtic Way, it was completely full to mark that achievement, to show their gratitude for the players is something for the football players.
“That’s why you do the job. You want to be successful, you want to have that winning feeling but at the same time, you do it to give joy to other people and try to improve other people’s lives for the time you’ve got at the club.
“It’s a real marriage made in heaven the affection between the players and the supporters and the reverse of that as well.
“To see that many people is something special and, like I said, there won’t be many clubs around the world, if any, that have that special bond between supporters and players.”
The Celtic fans certainly did play their part to mark this historic achievement. Their TIFO display prior to the kick-off in the Hampden final was tremendous.

Their rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone as the players celebrated in front of the stands was spinetingling and then, as McGregor says, the reception the players got at The Celtic Way was nothing short of remarkable.
And I have still to mention the thousands of fans that gathered to march to Hampden for the final last month or the incredible scenes on Trophy Day as the fans held street parties in the city centre.
If anyone knows how to do celebrations it’s the Celtic fans. It’s little wonder the players look in awe when they witness scenes like they did at Hampden. And here’s hoping there are more of them under a new manager next season.
