Michael Nicholson’s claim about a senior Celtic source leaking against Brendan Rodgers

The long-awaited board response to a senior figure at Celtic briefing against Brendan Rodgers last month is now out.

A report in The Scottish Sun claimed that a ‘senior’ Celtic source said that Brendan Rodgers was causing division at the club and that the Hoops boss was working his ticket out of Parkhead.

Whilst the report never put a name to the story, it has been accepted pretty much universally that someone from Celtic went to the newspaper with this story.

And as fans raged, there was a meeting last night between the Celtic Fans Collective and the Parkhead board to thrash out this and six other questions that were asked in the Open Letter 67 Hail Hail signed over six weeks ago.

Michael Nicholson shuts down investigation into Celtic leak against Rodgers

Unsurprisingly, Nicholson absolved the club of any blame for the story that appeared in The Scottish Sun as the Parkhead CEO doubled down to deny any wrongdoing by anyone at Celtic.

The Celtic Fan Collective’s statement on last night’s meeting reads on X, “The allegation of a senior Club official briefing against the Manager to The Sun was described as “closed” by Michael Nicholson.

“The Club was unwilling to divulge much information although claimed a conversation took place between the Board and the Manager.

“The Club suggested that the allegation was unsubstantiated and did not require further investigation. In conclusion, the Collective expressed disappointment that the Club remained unwilling to engage meaningfully on questions of leadership, governance, and accountability.”

Hold up, 67 Hail Hail has a few questions about Nicholson’s reply.

Three questions that the Celtic CEO must answer on alleged Rodgers leak

Whilst Nicholson’s reply is not surprising, the Celtic CEO’s answer raises more questions than it answers.

This is where the club must now back up their stance and defend themselves. If someone at Celtic didn’t contact The Scottish Sun, did Roger Hannah just make up the whole story?

The club have more questions to answer as they fail the fans again.
