Brendan Rodgers caused a bit of a stir when the Celtic manager made those now infamous Honda Civic quotes.
Rodgers‘ frustration at Celtic’s defeat at Dundee appeared to have boiled over when he told the media he can’t be expected to drive a Ferrari with the keys to a Honda Civic.
Celtic supporters lambasted the Hoops boss for the remark branding the comments ‘totally wrong’ amongst other expletives.
But now, Michael Stewart has said he agrees with Rodgers’ comments whilst telling the Celtic board they are playing with fire in this current situation.

Brendan Rodgers’ Honda Civic comments are ‘damning’ for the Celtic board
Darrell Currie and Stewart were discussing Rodgers’ comments and both seemed to be in disbelief that the Celtic manager used that analogy to describe his current squad.
Stewart told The Scottish Football Social Club, “And the final thing I would say in all that is that I don’t have any doubt that it has affected the mindset of the manager [Celtic’s transfer business].
“I mean, for Brendan Rodgers yesterday to come out and comment about going to a race and getting in the car with keys to a Honda Civic and expecting to drive it like a Ferrari.
“I mean, seriously. I mean, I get the point he’s trying to make. And by the way, I wouldn’t necessarily disagree with it in its entirety, but as a player there at the moment, he’s basically called me a Honda Civic.”
Currie replied, “It’s also damning though, Michael. It’s damning for the board as well, damning for the fans as well.
“You’d have to assume, though, there can’t be much of a future under Brendan Rodgers at Celtic, the way this discourse is playing out now.”
Michael Stewart tells the Celtic board treatment of Brendan Rodgers is ‘dangerous’
And as Celtic fans step up their action against the board coupled with the dilemma and rumour over Rodgers’ future, Stewart warns the Parkhead board that they have created a situation that is dangerous for the club.
Stewart continued, “Genuinely, at the start of the season and the way things were, I genuinely thought that, had things worked out, well, I think he would have been open to staying.
“But the way things have panned out, I don’t think there’s any chance. And I do think that Brendan Rodgers, the way it is at the moment, the two things, the way the club have been run, and the way that he’s now understandably underwhelmed with it all, I think it’s a very, very dangerous situation for Celtic to be in, because you’ve got all this campaign, but it just feels like they are treading water a little bit.
“There’s no real dynamism and that’s dangerous.”
The likelihood of Rodgers ever being offered a new contract by the Celtic board is pretty close to nil. Not impossible, but highly unlikely.
But as Stewart says, the longer the disconnect with Rodgers and board continues coupled with the fan protests, this season has a very real danger of imploding.
So, it’s over to the Celtic board.
