Celtic’s transfer window has long been criticised this season.
The Celtic board’s failure to strengthen properly in the summer is being felt on the pitch as the goals and entertaining football dries up for the fans.
Supporters saw a small glimpse of what the team can achieve after Celtic’s superb comeback against Motherwell.
But, in the main, there has been more disappointing performances than good from Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic so far this season.
But there appears to be one ray of light with one of Celtic’s transfers this season as Michael Stewart points out a ‘very good’ signing Rodgers did make.

Benjamin Nygren is ‘a very good’ Celtic signing but lacks ‘intensity’
Benjamin Nygren was quickly identified as a player who looked like he could improve the Celtic team this season.
However, Stewart has picked up on a key weakness in the Swede as he tried to identify where Celtic need to strengthen most in January.
Stewart told The Scottish Football Social Club, “Callum McGregor’s looking like he needs a little bit of help in the middle of the park.
“Hatate looks like his edge is out of his game. Nygren’s a very good signing, but I wouldn’t say he’s an intense player.
“He’s a quality player, but he’s not got real intensity. Then you come the front line. And the front line has been the major issue. I’ve just spoken about from the back up to the middle, that the edge has gone off of things slightly.
“So the players that are already there, they looked like they were needing a fresh injection of new blood to get them going again and it’s not really happened.”
Benjamin Nygren’s Celtic stats this season
Nygren has been good this season so far but has he been brilliant? Let’s take a look at his stats from Fotmob to see:
- Played: 7
- Minutes: 493
- Shots: 21
- Shots on target: 9
- Goals: 4
- Assists: 1
- Passing accuracy: 83.7%
- Chances created: 18
- Touches in opposition box: 32
Not a bad start for Nygren who also lacks pace but so far, Celtic fans have enjoyed a decent return from the Swede since his summer move.
