Celtic have been a juggernaut in Scottish football over the last 23 years or so. The club’s domination of Scottish football was kickstarted by Martin O’Neill at the turn of the century and we haven’t really looked back since then.
We have had an array of successful managers since then. The likes of Gordon Strachan, Neil Lennon, Ronny Deila and Ange Postecoglou have all contributed to our successes over the years.
But Brendan Rodgers was the man that took Celtic to the next level. He revolutionised the club at a time when it seemed to be standing still and Michael Stewart believes that the Celtic manager will be keen to remind everyone that he is responsible for that. No one else.

Stewart said [BBC Sportsound open all mics], “I said it at the time when it was being mooted that Ange Postecoglou was about to leave and that Brendan Rodgers was available, they could not get a better appointment. They could not get a better replacement.
“The Celtic Board have gone out and done everything they could to get the man back in. I think it’s a real sign of intent and it’s a tremendous appointment from Celtic’s perspective.
“I think Brendan Rogers is just keen to remind everybody that he was the one that really kicked the club on to another level.
“And Ange Postecoglou was able to continue that after the terrible season Celtic had when they missed out on ten in a row. But this man is in charge now.
“He’s took Celtic to a different level that everybody else has been trying to catch up to. And I’m sure, and I can sense it when he’s talking, he’s keen to remind everybody about that.”

Of course, Stewart is correct. Although we didn’t see much progress in Europe under Rodgers’ tenure, how the club changed it’s training methods and set up behind the scenes can very much be attributed to the Irishman.
Rodgers also was responsible for the turnaround and improvement of players such as Scott Brown, Callum McGregor and James Forrest in his first tenure at the club.
The foundations of the Quadruple Treble success were also laid by Rodgers back in 2016. So it is fair to argue that he should be credited for his part in the domestic domination we have seen by the club up until now.
Rodgers has already let it be known that he intends to take us forward in Europe as well as continue to keep our stranglehold in Scotland. If he is successful, the Celtic fans could be set to witness another prolonged period of prosperity.
