Multi-title winning UFC great Georges St-Pierre snapped with Celtic flag
There are few bigger names in the history of UFC than Georges St-Pierre, yet the ever-prolific actor Gianni Capaldi has managed to make him a Celtic supporter.
Capaldi, who’s starred in action thrillers alongside Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke, is well-known for getting big-name stars to wear Celtic colours. And today on his Instagram, he took the chance to do just that. This time, though, it’s Georges St-Pierre, a bona fide UFC legend, with the Green and White.
Capaldi shared his interaction on Instagram, captioning the picture: “Wee bit of fun from set. Winnipeg is Green and White.
“Georges St-Pierre joins the #CelticFamily.”
In terms of decorated MMA stars, it doesn’t really get better than Georges St-Pierre. A UFC Hall of Famer, a middle-weight and welter-weight title winner, he also has the second-most unanimous decisions in UFC history.
Quite a fighter, then.
The two are working on ‘King of Killers’, a film scheduled for 2023. Capaldi plays Korza, in a film about a group of international hitmen [IMDb].
Of course, St-Pierre isn’t the first MMA-er to show support for Celtic. UFC fighter Molly McCann is a Hoops supporter, who tweeted about her cheering on the Bhoys against Bodo/Glimt.
Meanwhile, Conor McGregor sparked up a friendship with Kieran Tierney while the defender was playing for his boyhood club.
You can’t fault Gianni Capaldi’s persistence as Georges St-Pierre becomes latest to “join Celtic family”
You know what? Fair play to Gianni Capaldi here, his commitment to spreading the name of Celtic in Hollywood is pretty impressive.
So, bringing Georges St-Pierre into the fold is no problem. He’s not the only celebrity linked with Celtic this season, either. Jon Hamm, while filming in Glasgow, was seen taking in a Bhoys game at Paradise earlier this season. As ever, the Hoops are quite the draw.
Whether Georges St-Pierre develops a deep love of all things Celtic is, as yet, unclear.
Given his prowess in the Octagon though, it’s unlikely anyone will take him to task for not having opinions on Ange Postecoglou’s rebuild at Celtic Park.
Mr Capaldi, good work.
