A big week awaits Celtic and Brendan Rodgers.

Yes, the Premiership title is done and it’s just a case of when Celtic will be named champions for the 2024/25 season, rather than if.

It’s still the small matter of Celtic facing Rangers on Sunday and piling more misery on a team that is now managed by Barry Ferguson.

Rangers face Fenerbahce in the second leg of their Europa League encounter on Thursday evening and it’s a rare week off for Rodgers’ side.

This comes after Celtic beat Hibernian in the Scottish Cup over the weekend and it’s another trip to Hampden on the cards.

The Hoops will face St Johnstone in the semi-finals and, if they progress as expected, then it’s either Aberdeen or Hearts in the final.

Add into the fact that the League Cup is also in hand and if the Treble is won, then it really wouldn’t be a surprise, but it wasn’t always like this.

Neil Lennon on the Treble becoming the norm for Celtic

When Neil Lennon was eating away at his opponents on the pitch under Martin O’Neill, it was far more competitive at the top of the table.

That’s why winning the Treble under O’Neill was memorable, but now it has become the norm under Rodgers, as well as Ange Postecoglou reaching those heights.

Lennon explained how it was ‘rare’ in his time to clean up on Scotland’s domestic stage, but he stated that Celtic have become so dominant that it’s now ‘expected’ to win all the silverware, as he told Premier Sports.

“Back to my time as a player, the Trebles were so rare,” said Lennon. “When you think of what Celtic have done over the last decade, with Brendan coming in initially and then the follow through to the last seven or eight years.

“It’s incredible. It’s almost like the expectation is that you get disappointed if you don’t win a Treble. That’s how good the club has become.

“He will want that. They have had a great season up to now and a great run in Europe. League Cup in the bag. They are almost over the line (in the Premiership).

“Some of the football they have played this year is breathtaking. The squad is strong. He will want more going forward. Two games away now from a potential Treble, but he won’t be taking that for granted.

“Things were difficult for him last year. There is no question about that and the title race was close. In the end, the last six weeks of the season, they prevailed and then won the cup.”

Scott Brown on if the Celtic dressing room are talking about the Treble

The Celtic fans are certainly talking about the Treble and watching the dominance unfold again.

But, as per, and as boring as it may sound, the players or the man in the dugout are not going to think in that way.

Well, out loud at least!

Scott Brown has been in that situation and he made it clear there is one thing you just never do in the dressing room.

On if Treble is spoken about: “You never get too excited because we have had bad games here and you can lose it easily enough,” stated Brown.

“See to get through a good Hibs team like that. 2-0. No goals against. It’s a great place. The thing is that it’s a mentality now for Celtic. One game at a time.

“Yes, the league is almost done, but it’s not done and dusted. They want to make sure they can get as many points and goals as possible they can. Then it becomes a cup game right at the end of the season.”
