The form of Nicolas Kuhn at Celtic has blown away the fans, pundits and former players this season.
In 17 appearances for Celtic this season so far, Kuhn has scored 10 goals and created 11 as the German winger wows the fans on an almost weekly basis.
Kuhn made his mark for Celtic in the Champions League after he helped destroy RB Leipzig at Celtic Park with a double in the 3-1 win.
The German winger also created an assist in Celtic’s 5-1 thrashing of Slovan Bratislava at the beginning of the campaign.
That has led to talk in Germany about Kuhn being close to an international call up and here, the Celtic winger shares if that call has come from national manager, Julian Naglesmann yet.
Nicolas Kuhn admits Germany hasn’t come calling yet but with a message Celtic fans will love
Kuhn told SportBild [print edition page 4], “Unfortunately not yet. Every boy who plays football dreams of playing for the national team at some point.
“I have often said that the DFB team is a huge goal of mine.
“I know that I have the quality for the national team and make no secret of the fact that I dream of the 2026 World Cup in the USA.
“But there is no other way than to keep working hard, scoring goals and preparing. Then the rest will follow by itself.”
Three goals Nicolas Kuhn has scored for Celtic Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann cannot ignore
As previously said, Kuhn has scored ten goals this season so far so it is little wonder Julian Nagelsmann has admitted he’s watching the Celtic winger closely now.
However, if the Germany boss needs help to decide whether or not to call up Kuhn anytime soon, here are three of the best goals the Celtic attacker has scored this season that may encourage Nagelsmann to pick up that phone.
- Celtic 3 v 1 RB Leipzig: Champions League
Kuhn’s second of the night, the Celtic winger showed he has penalty box prowess as well as the ability to beat players for pace at will.
- Celtic 6 v 0 Aberdeen: Scottish League Cup
Kuhn places an incredible shot well beyond Aberdeen’s keeper Mitov and it rebounded off the bar and into the top corner in the Bhoys’ 6-0 hammering of The Dons.
- Celtic 3 v 1 RB Leipzig: Champions League
The pick of the bunch. Kuhn inspired Celtic’s fightback against RB Leipzig with a superb curling effort that not many goalkeepers in the world could have touched.
There is no doubt that Kuhn has the ability to play at the highest level of football it’s whether or not Nagelsmann has the courage to give the Celtic winger the nod.
