Peter Grant admitted that he was impressed by what he saw of Shin Yamada during Celtic B’s defeat against East Kilbride.
The 25-year-old was a surprise inclusion for the KDM defeat against East Kilbride on Tuesday night.
Celtic fans felt sorry for Yamada, who probably expected to be in first-team contention for the season.
While he was unable to get on the scoresheet, Grant admitted that he was impressed by what he saw.

Peter Grant reacts to Shin Yamada performance
Having been in attendance to watch Celtic’s youngsters fall to defeat, Grant was asked about Yamada and how he fared.
While he acknowledged that East Kilbride were well-prepared for his threat, the forward impressed with his movement and praised his attitude.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, he said: “It’s unusual to see a 25-year-old playing in the B team, you know.
“I mean, but he showed a fantastic attitude and he was even arguing with the referee going off at half time.
“The boy, to be fair, could be put off but he was still talking to him in the second half.”
Celtic need to loan Shin Yamada out in January
Despite signing for £1.2m, the forward has yet to really leave his mark on Celtic.
Yamada is a step down in quality from the other striking options, particularly on a technical basis.
Options may be light after Callum Osmand’s injury but the forward needs regular game time.

A loan to a fellow Scottish club, or even elsewhere in Europe, would help him adjust to the style of football and bring him back ready to make an impact next season.
