The Celtic managerial hunt continues as we enter the second day since Ange Postecoglou was officially announced as the Tottenham Hotspur boss.

With various names already linked to the Parkhead vacancy, a new name has arisen as the Celtic board looks to step up their moves to get a manager in place.

Italian coach Francesco Farioli has been named as a coach Celtic are looking at by Italian media outlet Il Secolo XIX. The report linked the 34-year-old to Celtic whilst discussing possible candidates to replace Dejan Stankovic who has recently left Sampdoria.

The report stated, “In addition to Gennaro Gattuso’s last season at Valencia, the emerging Francesco Farioli, who ended his Turkish experience at Alanyaspor, is in the sights of several clubs, including Celtic Glasgow and Gabriele Cioffi, former Hellas Verona.” [translated by Deep L]

Farioli, at just 32 years old, is one of Europe’s youngest coaches. He gave up a playing career to focus on the coaching side of the game. He specialised in goalkeeper coaching after he graduated from the University of Florence.

Interestingly, in 2015, Farioli came up against Roberto de Zerbi’s Foggia where he was so impressed with the now Brighton boss’s style of play, he wrote a tactical analysis report on it. He spent three years under de Zerbi before landing his first job in the Turkish Super League as an assistant manager at Alanyaspor in 2020. In 2021 he was hired as the manager of Fatih Karagümrük [Hurriyet] and after nine months at the club, he returned to Alanyaspor in December as the first team manager. [Hurriyet]

He left the club at the end of this season after two years in charge. Now a free agent, the highly-rated coach is looking for a new club and it seems that he has caught the eye of Celtic.
